The Bay Area Discovery Museum has been proud to be a partner with the Mission Learning Center for the Dia de Los Niños Festival presented at the end of April each year.
This free public event welcomes families from the Mission neighborhood to Dolores Park and offers activities related to the celebration of childhood and the importance of books and reading in the lives of children.
Highlights of past Dia de Los Niños celebrations has included witnessing families laughing and talking together as they make books at the Museum booth, greeting eager kids looking to stamp their passport so that they can collect free books to take home, and watching kids hug their new books and clutch their library cards as they leave the event.
This connection between the joy expressed by the children and the books (and book related activities throughout day) makes a lasting impression about the pleasure and transformation books can have in our lives. top^
